NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that goaltender Daniel Dirracolo (Powassan Voodoos) as well as forwards Tyler Patterson (Hearst Lumberjacks) and Pierson Sobush (Greater Sudbury Cubs) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 20.

DANIEL DIRRACOLO, (G) POWASSAN VOODOOS – In two starts last week, the 17-year-old rookie netminder from Woodbridge, Ont., came away victorious in both of them, helping the surging Voodoos extend their winning streak to 10 straight games.

One of his triumphs was his second shutout of the season as he blanked Blind River 1-0 Saturday to conclude the time frame with a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .957.

Overall, Dirracolo boasts a 7-0-0-0 record in his inaugural campaign with Powassan while sporting a crisp 1.38 GAA and a save mark of .950.

TYLER PATTERSON, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Registering back-to-back three-point performances, Patterson posted a league-best six points over the past seven days.

The 18-year-old, who hails from Newcastle, Ont., began with a goal and set-up two more Thursday as Hearst upended Timmins following a late rally and an eventual shootout win, then notched his first NOJHL hat trick the following evening in a home ice triumph over the Soo Eagles.

Already having established a personal single-season highs in goals (14) and points (24), Patterson has etched his name on the game sheet in eight of his past 10 outings.

PIERSON SOBUSH, (F) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS – Picking up five points in a pair of Cubs’ wins, Sobush solidified Greater Sudbury’s place atop the overall NOJHL standings.

Skating for his hometown side, the 18-year-old forward had an assist supplied a third period shorthanded marker in an eventual shootout decision over Elliot Lake Thursday, then followed that up with two more tallies, including the game-winner, and another helper in a road victory over the Soo Thunderbirds.

Playing at over a point-per-game clip with 29 in 25 outings, including 15 goals, Sobush has led his side to an 11-0-0-0 record in match-ups in which he has scored at least once.
