NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Liam Boswell (Hearst Lumberjacks); defencemen Hudson Martin (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and forward Kai Clayton (French River Rapids) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending November 26.

LIAM BOSWELL, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS: Leading the way offensively for his club, Boswell’s efforts helped Hearst collect five of six points off a three-game road trip over the weekend.

The 19-year-old from Oakville, Ont., hammered in a goal, and dished out six assists, including on both of the game-winning markers for the Lumberjacks, for a seven-point road trip.

A veteran of 125 NOJHL contests, Boswell sits just eight points shy of the century mark in his career.

HUDSON MARTIN, (D) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS: A solid presence at both ends of the ice, Martin did his part in two more victories for the league-leading Cubs.

As one of the youngest players in the NOJHL this season, the 16-year-old blueliner from Midhurst, Ont., dished out a trio of assists, featuring one on a game-winner, and another on an insurance marker, while not being on the ice for any goals-against for Greater Sudbury during the time frame.

Martin currently shares top spot in rookie scoring among defencemen with 18 points on four tallies and 14 helpers.

KAI CLAYTON, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS: Finding the back of the net in each of the Rapids’ two triumphs last week, Clayton helped improve French River’s fortunes in the standings.

The 19-year-old from Delta, B.C., scored in a win over Iroquois Falls Friday, then notched another Saturday, before providing a superb difference maker in a shootout decision against Hearst.

With points in seven of his past eight games, Clayton has raised his season total to 22 in his first 26 contests, while seeing the Rapids pick-up results in five of the seven outings in which he etched his name on the game sheet as of late.
