HEARST, Ont. – The Hearst Lumberjacks saw Nathan Seed supply the game’s first and final goals Friday as part of a 4-1 result versus the Timmins Rock in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at Claude Larose Recreation Centre.
After a late start due to some travel issues Timmins incurred on the way to Hearst, it was the Lumberjacks who opened the scoring as a dump in from Julien Trudel allowed Mathieu Comeau to scoop up a loose puck and put it on net before Seed knocked in the rebound on Rock starter Ayden Mullen, just over four minutes in.
In the second stanza, the home side went up by pair on a man advantage as Ty McKay supplied his 30th of the season at 13:08 as he ripped in a William Pâquet pass while situated between the circles.
Running a point streak to nine early in the third, Luc Warner made it 3-0 when he cranked in a one-timer through the legs of Mullen on a two-on-one with McKay.
Timmins eventually solved Hearst’s Jack Helkie while shorthanded thanks to Evan Katic who finished off a short feed at the top of the crease from Thomas Beard at 7:19.
The Lumberjacks however sealed the deal in the final moments courtesy of an empty netter from Seed to cap off the home-ice triumph.
In continuing their winning ways, with a sixth straight victory, Hearst improves to 27-8-0-3 overall and in defeat, the Rock drop to 30-9-0-1.
