The Hearst Lumberjacks are proud to announce the hiring of Guy Losier as the team’s new Head Coach heading into the 2025–26 NOJHL season.

After an extensive search process and a series of promising conversations, it became clear that Losier was the right fit to lead the next chapter of Lumberjacks hockey.

“A true competitor and passionate student of the game, Guy brings a high-tempo coaching style centered around pace, puck possession, and relentless effort,” said General Manager Jonathan Blier. “He expects his teams to be hard-working, fast, and tough to play against — exactly the kind of identity we want to represent Hearst.”

Losier, a former standout forward in the OHL with Windsor and Niagara Falls, averaged over a point per game throughout his junior career before playing professionally in Belgium and the Netherlands. His playing days came to an end just before a scheduled tryout with the Minnesota North Stars.

Since retiring as a player, Losier has dedicated himself to coaching and player development, mentoring numerous young athletes — including Hearst native and NHL star Claude Giroux. Known as a respected teacher of the game and a motivator behind the bench, Losier brings decades of experience and a winning mindset to the Lumberjacks organization.

For Losier, the opportunity means more than just a job — it’s a full-circle moment.

“I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity,” said Losier. “To be back behind the bench and part of a community like Hearst, it’s something I embrace with a lot of passion. I honestly can’t believe the reaction and support from the community already — it’s been overwhelming in the best way. I’m excited to get to work.”

With the announcement, the team is already turning the page to the 2025–26 season — one they hope will be defined by intensity, discipline, and growth under Losier’s leadership.

“The expectations are high — and that’s exactly how it should be,” said Losier. “This is a proud hockey town. We’re going to play a style that reflects that pride, and we’ll make sure every opponent knows how tough it is to play in Hearst.”

The Lumberjacks will open training camp later this summer, with dates and roster updates to follow in the coming weeks.
