POWASSAN, Ont. – Cameron Clark collected a pair of goals to help propel the visiting Hearst Lumberjacks past the Powassan Voodoos 5-2 Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Powassan Sportsplex.
Riding a four-game winning streak entering the contest, Powassan got the early jump in the match-up when Gabinien collected his 17th tally of the season at 3:45 of the first period.
After Clark tied it for Hearst 11 minutes later, Max Newnam put the Voodoos back on top late in the frame to give a home side a 2-1 cushion after one.
The second stanza was all Lumberjacks though as they scored three times in rapid succession to go up 4-2.
Max Johnson started the offensive outburst for Hearst as he converted during a power play chance at 1:14.
They then added another a couple shifts later on Max Griffioen’s 24th of the campaign, in what proved to be the game-winner.
The Lumberjacks added another at 7:03 on Clark’s second of the night and 13th overall.
It stayed that way until the latter stages of regulation when Hearst’s Mathew Eardley put one into an empty net to cap off the road win.
J.J. Berdal chipped in with two assists to aid the winners cause.
Shots on goal favoured Powassan by a 32-29 count with Nicholas Tallarico picking up the victory while Joe Vrbetic was saddled with the loss.
