GALLERY: Golant sparks Hearst triumph over Timmins

HEARST, Ont. – Bradley Golant notched the tying goal, then assisted on the game-winner as the Hearst Lumberjacks came back to defeat the Timmins Rock 3-1 Friday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Claude Larose Arena.

After a scoreless first frame, Timmins took the lead early in the second stanza as Tyler Hutchinson registered his first NOJHL tally at 2:23.

Hearst’s Golant then countered with the equalizer at 7:41 as he picked up his ninth marker of the campaign and 30th of his career.

He then helped set-up Jake Desando for the eventual difference maker as the home side converted on a man advantage effort midway through the stanza.

The Lumberjacks then picked up the final goal of the evening late in the second on Max Johnson’s fifth.

Nicholas Tallarico in the Hearst net made 33 saves to record the win while Tyler Masternak faced 26 attempts in a losing cause for the Rock.

The two sides will cap off their weekend home-and-home set Saturday night in Timmins at 7 p.m. at McIntyre Arena.
