SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltenders Jace Knoerle (Soo Eagles) and Jack Helkie (Hearst Lumberjacks), along with forward Lucas Antonioni (Greater Sudbury Cubs), have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 29.
Jace Knoerle, (G) Soo Eagles – Backstopping the Eagles to their four-game upset sweep of Powassan, Knoerle collected a pair of home ice victories to close out the series during the time frame.
Along with a 2.01 goals-against average in those triumphs, the 19-year-old Roscoe, Illinois product post a .938 save percentage, in handling the Voodoos.
Coming out of the Madison Capitols AAA system in Wisconsin, Knoerle shares the NOJHL playoff lead in wins with four while his 2.23 overall GAA is fourth best and sees his .947 save mark hold down second spot among netminders.
Jack Helkie, (G) Hearst Lumberjacks – Leading Hearst into the second round of the 2026 postseason, the 19-year-old netminder, who hails from Aurora, Ont., picked up two road results as the Lumberjacks swept Espanola in the minimum four games.
In 109 minutes of playing time, Helkie moved to 4-0 in the playoffs in sporting a 2.20 average and .918 save percentage in closing out the Paper Kings, which featured a victory in regulation and another in a lengthy relief stint as part of a double overtime result.
Helkie, who is an alumnus of the Central Ontario Wolves U18 AAA program, sits tied for the NOJHL playoff lead with his four victories. Meanwhile he’s second overall in goals-against average (1.83) and fourth in save percentage (.931).
Lucas Antonioni, (F) Greater Sudbury Cubs – Contributing at both ends of the ice, Antonioni’s efforts aided in the Cubs wrapping up their sweep of Kirkland Lake.
The 19-year-old second-year forward, who played his minor hockey with both the Sudbury Wolves and Sudbury Nickel Capitals, set-up the deciding tally in the Cubs’ Game 3 triumph, then notched the game-winner, to go with an earlier assist, to help finish off the Gold Miners in Game 4.
Skating for his hometown side, Antonioni had points in all four match-ups in the quarter-finals for Greater Sudbury and is coming off a regular season where set personal-bests in goals (13); assists (18) and points (31).
