NOJHL names its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Owen King (Greater Sudbury Cubs); defenceman Braedyn Cyr (Timmins Rock) and forward Mathieu Comeau (Hearst Lumberjacks) have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending January 11, which includes games played on Sunday, Jan. 4.

Owen King, (F) Greater Sudbury Cubs – In a pair of Greater Sudbury victories, King notched five goals, including a game-winner, and dished out three assists, one of which was on a deciding tally.

The 19-year-old Cambridge, Ont., product has already collected 22 markers in his first 13 contests since his return to the NOJHL, highlighted by four hat tricks.

An alumnus of the Oakville Rangers U18 AAA program, King has already accumulated 72 tallies through just 62 league outings, to go with 110 total points.

Braedyn Cyr, (D) Timmins Rock –
In three match-ups during the time frame, Cyr averaged two points-per-game helping Timmins run their current winning streak to 19 in succession.

The 20-year-old Rock captain, who hails from Oakville, Ont., dished out a half-dozen helpers in all, including on two deciding markers.

Playing parts of his minor hockey in the Oakville Rangers system, Cyr is presently riding an eight-game point streak and has also etched his name on the game sheet in 13 of his past 14 contests to hold down second spot in NOJHL numbers, among defencemen, with 31 in as many affairs.

Mathieu Comeau, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks – The veteran forward with his hometown Lumberjacks racked up his league-best fourth five-assist game of the season Sunday in a 6-5 overtime triumph against Kirkland Lake.

The offensive outburst also saw the former Kapuskasing Flyers stalwart in the Great North U18 Hockey League run a consecutive point streak to 18 games in a row, 11 of which has been multi-point efforts.

Comeau, who is just five contests away from moving into second spot all-time in NOJHL history in games played at 244, continues to pace all skaters in scoring with 65 points in just 29 appearances in 2025-26.
