NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that the Hearst Lumberjacks trio of Ryan Glazer, Liam Oxner and Zachary Demers have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending May 1.

RYAN GLAZER, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – A pair of impressive performances proved pivotal in a couple of Lumberjacks victories.

The 20-year-old Glazer, who hails from Saint-Lazarre, Que., doled out three assists, including one on the game-winner, in a Game 7 win over Timmins.

He then followed that up with a hat trick Sunday in Game 1 of the league final, featuring a shorthanded marker while his side was down two men, in a series-opening triumph at the Soo Thunderbirds.

Glazer is currently tied for the NOJHL lead in playoff goals with 10.

LIAM OXNER, (G) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Making some big saves, at opportune times, Oxner backstopped Hearst to a couple of important victories.

The 20-year-old from Halifax, N.S., made 79 stops in all during the week, featuring key ones at important times, in his club’s Game 7 decision at Timmins as well as in the Lumberjacks Game 1 victory over the Soo Thunderbirds, to begin the league championship series.

Oxner now leads all league netminders in playoff wins in 2022 with eight and dating back to late November, sports a record of 21-6-0-0 for Hearst.

ZACHARY DEMERS, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Demers registered points in each of Hearst’s contests last week to help his side continue their winning ways.

In total, he dished out five assists as the Lumberjacks head into Game 2 of the NOJHL final versus the Soo Thunderbirds tonight.

Currently sporting a seven-game point streak, the 20-year-old from St-Hubert, Que., leads all NOJHL skaters in playoff scoring with 18 points on six tallies and a dozen markers.
