NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that defenceman Cameron Dutkiewicz (Timmins Rock) as well as forwards Robbie Rutledge (Hearst Lumberjacks) and Michael Chaffay (Soo Thunderbirds) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending December 12.

CAMERON DUTKIEWICZ, (D) TIMMINS ROCK – Earning his second league weekly accolade in a month the 20-year-old Timmins blueliner racked up five points for his hometown side in a pair of Rock victories.

Dutkiewicz began with a three-goal performance Friday in a triumph at Cochrane then capped off his run with another tally, as well as an assist, as his club completed a home-and-home sweep of the Crunch.

His contributions now see him tied for the NOJHL scoring lead among defencemen with 27.

Playing at just over a point-per-game clip, Dutkiewicz has scored 10 times and helped set-up 17 others in 26 outings on the campaign.

ROBBIE RUTLEDGE, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – An offensive force, Rutledge registered a NOJHL-high six goals in the time frame to take over the league-lead in markers with 22.

His contributions included a four-goal night Saturday in a come from behind win at French River.

He then tacked on two more Sunday afternoon in an overtime setback in Kirkland Lake.

The 17-year-old Severn, Ont., product has six multi-tally outings so far this season, including three in his last four contests.

MICHEAL CHAFFAY, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – Appearing in his club’s lone game for the week, Sunday, Chaffay struck three times and dished out an assist in a neutral site win vs. Espanola held in Elliot Lake.

His effort proved to be his initial hat trick in the NOJHL.

The 19-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., has now surpassed his personal single-season goal and point totals with 10 and 17 respectively.

Also of note, in the 12 games so far this season that Chaffay has registered at least one point, the Thunderbirds sport an impressive record of 10-0-1-1.
