Lumberjacks’ MacDougall commits to ACHA’s Niagara U

SUDBURY – The Hearst Lumberjacks of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have announced the commitment of defenceman Matthew MacDougall to Niagara University of the American Collegiate Hockey Association starting next season.

Currently in his third NOJHL campaign, the 20-year-old blueliner from Mississauga, Ont., has appeared in 87 league contests to date, both with Hearst and the Powassan Voodoos.

MacDougall produced a career single-season-best 14 points from the back-end last season and has supplied four assists in seven outings with Hearst so far in 2020-21.

Located in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the Purple Eagles ACHA side had a 22-9-2-2 record in 2019-20.
