GALLERY: Hearst doubles up Timmins 4-2

HEARST, Ont. – Bradley Golant tallied twice to help lead the Hearst Lumberjacks to a 4-2 victory over the Timmins Rock Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Claude Larose Arena.

It was the visiting Rock that got on the board first in this one with Evan Kentish-Stack connecting 78 seconds in as he notched his third of the campaign early.

Hearst got that back in the latter portion of the opening frame as Golant buried his 11th goal of the season.

The Lumberjacks would pick-up the lone marker in the second stanza four minutes in as Samuel Bourdages helped set-up Max Griffioen for his eighth to put the home side up 2-1 after two.

Hearst extended their cushion near the four-minute mark of the final frame compliments of Shadow Reuben’s sixth.

The Rock pulled to within one at 8:31 with Wayne Mathieu picking up his seventh goal of the year to narrow the visitors’ deficit.

However Golant iced it with his side down a man in the final minute as he scored his team-leading 12th picking up a shorthanded, empty netter to secure the win.

Max Johnson chipped in with two assists for the Lumberjacks in the victory.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured Timmins by a 28-23 count with Nicholas Dube picking up the win while Tyler Masternak suffered the loss.
