HEARST, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers broke open a tie game with three unanswered third periods tallies to help them pull out a 4-1 road win over the Hearst Lumberjacks Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at Claude Larose Arena in front of over 700 spectators.
Blind River rookie Nicholas Soumbasis staked his side to the lead early in the contest as he picked up his initial NOJHL goal 2:41 in.
A late man advantage helped Hearst knot it at 1-1 when Cameron Clark notched his fourth of the season at 17:01.
From there the second stanza proved to be tight checking as neither side would generate any offence in a middle session that was scoreless as was over 13 minutes of the third.
However, the Beavers would break the deadlock with 6:23 left in regulation when Tyler Nott recorded the eventual game-winner.
Then going to the power play, Blind River added some insurance less than four minutes later thanks to Riley Nadeau’s seventh.
They then capped off the decision with a late empty netter courtesy of Lucas Adams in the final seconds to conclude the night’s proceedings.
Dante Cavaliere had two assists to aid the Beavers offensively for his second multi-point night of the campaign.
Shots on goal were 33 apiece with Thomson Phinney picking up the win while Nicholas Tallarico suffered the loss
